What’s in store at Together We Rise?

Together We Rise–Boston’s most anticipated counter-inaugural event–promises to inspire attendees with its rousing, participatory format. If you’re wondering what to expect on January 19th, read on for a minute-by-minute description of what’s to come (more details to follow as we confirm additional artists and speakers).

7:00 PM  (On site) Doors open at Strand Theatre. Attendees visit the Together We Rise Mobilization Fair held in the Strand lobby and view the Social Justice Art Show exhibited in the Strand Gallery.

7:00 PM   (Off site) Musicians and members of the public meet up at Mary Hannon Park on Dudley Street in Dorchester for the Together We Rise procession to the Strand Theatre.

7:15 PM  Procession steps off and travels a half mile southeast on Dudley Street from Mary Hannon Park  to the Strand Theatre.

8:00 PM  Call-t0-action concert begins featuring emcee and spoken word artist, Ashley Salomon and headlining musician Larry Watson and his ensemble, comedy with Bethany Van Delft, testimonials by Mexican poet and activist-in-exile, Ari Belathar; housing activist, Betsaida Gutierrez and more.

9:15 PM  Intermission. Attendees view the interactive art exhibition on display in the Strand Gallery and visit the Mobilization Fair to get involved with local activist organizations.

9:30 PM   Call-t0-action concert resumes in theater, featuring performances by spoken word poet Regie Gibson, comedians, step troupes, and testimonial by Black Lives Matter activist, DiDi Delgado.

11:00 PM   Event concludes.

Join Together We Rise: A Counter-Inaugural Celebration of Resistance as we raise our voices for a more just, creative, & peaceful future. The one-of-a-kind event–to be held on the eve of the presidential inauguration–will include a procession to the theater, social justice art show, mobilization fair, and a call-to-action concert featuring a talented and inspiring set of performers including renowned musician Larry Watson and his ensemble.  Spoken word artist Ashley Rose Salomon will emcee the event. Additional performers to join the bill include spoken word poets, comedians, authors, dancers, and more.

Doors open at 7. Concert begins at 8. Suggested donation of $10 for this all ages event, though no one will be turned away.

With the goal of inspiring people to take creative political action, Together We Rise will bring together over 1,000 attendees from across Boston to raise their voices for a more peaceful, just, and creative world.
